Re-imagined classic rock songs in jazz. Still Crossing picks up where the
album Crossover left off. Re-imagined
classic rock songs in a jazz style. The
inspiration for Crossover comes from
my roots in Cuba, where American
music was banned. Despite this, we
could still catch the sound waves
coming across the ocean from Florida,
discovering what would later become
classic rock. This album continues
that journey, but choosing the music
was no easy task. The focus was on
the artists whose music has left a
lasting impact worldwide: Led Zepplin,
Elton John, Procol Harum, Janis Joplin,
Joni Mitchell, and Jimi Hendrix..

The idea of arranging Classic Rock songs came while teachingguitar at a school and working with kids that enjoyed Classic Rock. Iwanted to introduce them to Jazz and combining rock tunes was theperfect bridge. I began with Blackbird (Beatles). I wanted to orchestratethe song while keeping the original melody and that's what I did. Thearrangement helped them to meld the two genres together.

The Sound Of Strings was recorded and released 2005. Guitar and violin duo by Federico Britos and Jorge Garcia.
Winner of several Grammy awards for his work with Charlie Haden, Bebo Valdes and Israel “Cachao” Lopez, Federico Britos is regarded as a titan of the violin. Jorge Garcia, born in Cuba, brings all the richness of Latin rhythms from his birthplace into the folds of this ensemble. Britos and Garcia’s recording has received accolades from jazz artists around the country, including Israel “Cachao" Lopez, Bucky Pizzarelli, guitarist Jack Wilkins and famed actor Andy Garcia.
The Color Of Notes is a recording that musically touches upon different genres. The rhythms from the birth place of Garcia (Cuba) and the birth place of Britos Uruguay. This recoding along with Grammy winner Israel "Cachao" Lopez, Andy Garcia and Chuck Red covers swing, candombe, chacha, bolero and bossa nova. It is truly a delight to listen to.
